Students Fundraise at Walworth Academy for Water for Life

Sadinie Seneratne is a teacher at Walworth Academy in London. She has taken on the challenge of raising money for one well in Africa through Humanity First USA's Water for Life program, and her students have joined her in this effort.

She began advertising around her school to hold a cupcake bake sale, and many students volunteered to help make the cupcakes. There were so many volunteers that she organized a second event to accommodate those who could not participate in this round. The students spent several hours after school with Sadinie to make nearly 300 cupcakes, which they then sold the next day during lunchtime. Several students had brought in cupcakes they had made in home, showing their strong desire to be involved with the project.

The efforts of the students of Walworth Academy and Sadinie will go on to transform hundreds of lives in Africa, as they continue their fundraising efforts for Water for Life. Villagers will be less susceptible to dangerous waterborne illnesses, and will also save precious hours it takes to obtain water each day, which will allow adults to earn a greater income, and for children to spend more time in school. The efforts of supporters of Humanity First such as Sadinie and her students will allow individuals to live more dignified lives as they help build communities and change futures.
