Pakistan Floods Response 2014

Heavy Monsoon rains flooded rivers earlier this month in the valley of Kashmir on both sides of the border between India and Pakistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan area of Pakistan inflicting severe damage to the region. The rivers continued its path of destruction and have flooded thousands of villages in central and south Punjab.

According to official estimates, over 300 lives are lost, more than 2.3 million people are affected, over half a million people are displaced, and nearly 2 million acres of crops are lost.

What We Are Doing

Humanity First has initiated its relief mission in Pakistan and is serving population impacted in Kashmir and Punjab. Humanity First is distributing dry rations to families, organizing medical camps and providing essential relief items.

In the first few days of relief, Humanity First's team of 56 volunteers have provided dry rations to 2100 people, treated almost 800 patients through medical camps, and distributed more than 400 mosquito nets. Relief mission is being further expanded in the days to come.

Humanity First is working with its partner World Water Works (a Rotary Company in Bath, UK) to deploy hundreds of water survival boxes to the region including water filters and domestic items to help displaced families. Aid worth over $100,000 is being shipped out in the next few days.
